November news
Some good news coming in at last as we seem to have turned a corner in the UK and Europe. The UK and other parts of Europe are still in lockdown https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/explainers-53640249 but there is now mass testing going on and the latest news is the production of a vaccine that works for 90% of the people tested. This has seen a massive boost to the confidence of businesses, consumers and the general population. Share markets have jumped significantly and customers have started booking future holidays
Tourism Australia have been busy looking after their marketplace which is running this week. This has been a great way for agents to get up to date with changes made by Australian products during 2020 and also to show that there is a positive feeling for the recovery of long-haul travel https://events.tourism.australia.com/amonline-ukeurope/
Tourism New Zealand has been running webinars to also keep agents up to date on all changes as much as they can with different areas of focus each week. Adventure and Adrenaline was this week and Wildlife will be next week on 18th November, link below for anyone wanting to sign up https://newzealand.zoom.us/webinar/register/7416002352257/WN_ifW6x-dcSyCJMvxpQUIKKQ
My Training Guru has launched this month https://mytraining.guru/. I am very much involved in this as I have always thought that on-line product training for travel agents is needed for small companies that cannot afford representation in multiple markets and also to increase efficiency and reduce costs for larger companies that do have staff in market. I have obviously been involved in both these scenarios and would loved to have had MTG to increase efficiency/distribution.
So, what is next? It is hard to tell how quickly all the countries we will come out of lockdown but the general consensus is that it will be the 1st/2nd week in December so everyone can do Christmas shopping and spend time with their families. We will then go into 2021 with the usual boost in bookings as everyone makes holiday plans for the year ahead. With confidence levels rising massively in the last 24/48 hours I think we will see very high bookings by January as this is clearly 2 months away, a lots can and will happen in the meantime.
We obviously don’t have any dates yet as to when Australia, New Zealand or USA will be open for tourism but vaccines and mass testing has to give these countries confidence to allow visitors very soon. It is now time to make sure your products are in front of as many agents as possible and that they are up to date with all your USP’s, details and procedures.
