October news

Very mixed reports from agents and tourism boards as some are as much as 50+% up on last year where others are struggling.  TNZ reported that arrivals are at 88% of the 2019 level at 3.4million visitors.  The UK is at 81% of 2019 figures and Germany is at 74% of 2019.  These are based on stats up to the end of August 2025.

The good news is that New Zealand UK Holiday arrivals are up 17% on last year and make up 43% of all UK arrivals, VFR are 47% of all UK arrivals.  Germany is up 12% overall on last year with 74% holiday arrivals and 14% VFR.

Their summary of the general market highlighted that the UK economy is stable where the German economy is ‘soft’.  Both consumers see travel as a key part of their annual expenditure.  There is a noticeable growth in the ‘older demographic’, and they are spending more than in previous years.
